SETTING PEER REVIEW INSTRUMENTS AND GOALS FOR MEDICAL (HEALTH) EDUCATION / SPRING

Within the framework of Erasmus+ institutional cooperation projects (KA2 - CBHE - Skill Development in Higher Education), TMA is involved in a consortium aimed at developing a mechanism and goals for mutual participation in medical and healthcare education, as well as promoting innovation and experience sharing. The project is funded by the European Union and brings together participants from Georgia, Eastern Partnership countries, Asia, and the European Union.

Main TasksL

    • Raising awareness in the medical educational institutions of the target and non target countries about the co-attendance process as a necessary tool supporting the ongoing improvement processes in the activities of academic and administrative units.
    • Establishment of the International Mutual Attendance Board (MPRB)
    • Sustainable development and implementation of a continuous peer-review process of academic programs, as well as administrative policies, processes, and actions for both target and other medical institutions of higher education
    • Raising awareness among members of academic and administrative staff in higher educational institutions that are members of the consortium about a) effective self-evaluation and b) ways to effectively conduct peer review
    • Annual scientific-practical journal "Peer Review in Medical/Health Education for Eastern Europe and Central Asia - PRIMED-EECA"
    • Increasing the degree of internationalization of higher educational institutions in partner countries
    • Dissemination of information about project achievements and other summary materials (annual review reports, PRIMED-EECA, case descriptions, recommendations, etc.) among higher educational institutions of both program (EU) and partner (Eastern Europe, Central Asia) countries participating in the project. Sharing with ministries and national agencies related to medical education issues

The goal of the project: Improvement of the quality of medical education, modernization, and implementation of clinical skills curriculum

Goals of the project:

  • Curriculum reform CBME (Competency Based Medical Education), development of clinical line concept
  • Developing (or improving existing) clinical skills centers of higher education institutions in partner countries
  • Implementation/development of simulation (using mannequins, simulators, simulators, and standardized and simulated patient, or hybrid model)
  • Introduction/development of clinical skills (competencies), assessment methodology, and tools (including Objective Structured Clinical Examination – OSCE)
  • Raising awareness of CBME principles
  • Preparation of a platform for a regional network of clinical skills laboratories for remote consultations that will contribute to the strengthening of the public health system

Project Title: Life Support Training and Dissemination (LIFESTRAND) for Higher Education Institutions and Community Representatives living in Military Risk Areas of Ukraine and Georgia

Goal of the project: Safeguard the health and survival rights of vulnerable populations in Ukraine and Georgia affected by the Russian Occupation and military aggression.

Goal of the project:

  • Strengthen capacities of 27 Academic Staff in 7 Higher Education Institution (HEI) of Ukraine and Georgia in the design and elaboration of new training material (First Aid Guides for Staff, Students and Community Representatives) through experience-sharing, guidance and technical assistance from partner institutions operating in Spain and Portugal
  • Benefit 242 Staff and Students of 7 HEIs in Ukraine and Georgia through capacity building in teaching and provision of First Aid, including core elements of Life Support and Pre-hospital Trauma Care.
  • Strengthen life-saving First Aid skills among 7,200 members of communities living in Military Risk Areas of Ukraine and Georgia, as the final beneficiaries of Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE)
  • Provide essential First Aid training equipment (including simulators) to 3 partner medical universities in Ukraine
