Arrhythmia Winter School 2025

🗓️ 2025-03-13

The Arrhythmia Winter School is an important educational event aimed at enhancing the knowledge of medical students and young doctors in electrocardiography (ECG) and arrhythmia management. This year, Bakuriani hosted the Arrhythmia Winter School.

Over three days, students had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and develop the ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations. The course also focused on first aid and arrhythmia management, which is essential in real clinical practice.

The event brought together both Georgian and international students. Each day of the Arrhythmia School was unique and was filled with various activities. The first day was an introductory day. The participants got acquainted with the main goals and structure of the program. The session was followed by theoretical and practical work, where participants were introduced to the fundamentals of ECG interpretation, including syncope and the most common arrhythmias in clinical practice. Lectures were also given by specialists in the field, who shared information on the physiological and pathological aspects of heart rhythm.

The second day of the training was entirely devoted to interactive learning. Students were divided into small groups and participated in various practical sessions, including CPR, bleeding control, and ECG case discussions. Session participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and experience with the help of medical simulators and mannequins. This approach aims to improve diagnostic accuracy, develop quick decision-making skills, and reinforce the importance of teamwork.

The third day of the Arrhythmia School focused on educational games. One of the main activities of the day was a competition that involved solving difficult ECG cases. 7 student teams from 7 different universities were formed. The winner of the competition was announced to be the TMA team, and all team members were awarded the appropriate certificate.
An interactive game named “Bingo Bonanza” was also organized by the head of the TMA student club  "Guardians of the Heart Squad"  Rishu Shah and her deputy Gvantsa Omiadze. Through this game, students were given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a fun way.

The day ended with a triage demonstration, where students demonstrated their first aid and critical patient management skills. It is noteworthy that TMA students took first place in this competition as well.

The Arrhythmia Winter School 2025 ended with an award ceremony. The participating students of the school were awarded certificates and memorable prizes.

“My role over the three days was to coordinate the event, assist with group activities, and ensure that each session ran smoothly. Arrhythmia School 2025 was an exciting and memorable experience for me and all participants. The students were given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, gain new experience, and acquire the necessary skills necessary for providing first aid,” said Gvantsa Omiadze, a student at the TMA.
