New Partnership

🗓️ 2025-03-19

Project IMG/IMG Unity Collective and Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) have established a campus chapter (Division) to support students with medical education, career development, and community service opportunities. This initiative helps future doctors build clinical skills, leadership abilities, and global connections.

“I am very glad that by partnering with Project IMG, we are able to create opportunities for our students to fulfil the third mission of our university. The objectives of our collaboration echo TMA’s aspiration to teach and develop international and national healthcare professionals, who can practically benefit Georgian community. A growing body of research suggests that people derive psychological benefits from prosocial action—acts performed with the intention to help others. Hence, the initiatives to be carried out within this partnership will also positively influence students’ well-being, will enhance their sense of belonging, and will strengthen TMA community in general” – noted Maka Maglakelidze, Head of the Institutional Culture Development Department at Tbilisi Medical Academy.

The program provides guidance on medical licensing, professional growth, and hands-on experience in assisting underserved communities. It promotes advocacy, cultural awareness, student-oriented and patient-centered care, supporting both organizations’ missions and goals of improving healthcare access.

Through this partnership, TMA students receive mentorship, educational resources, and international career opportunities, preparing them to become skilled and compassionate medical professionals.

“At Project IMG, we are committed to training excellent physicians who not only demonstrate clinical excellence but also serve as strong advocates for vulnerable communities. We are honored to work with Tbilisi Medical Academy, a prestigious institution dedicated to academic excellence and community health service. Our partnership is focused on equipping TMA students with the expertise, leadership, and deep commitment to community health needed to create meaningful change. By fostering a culture of service and social responsibility, we empower TMA students to become not only skilled physicians but also influential advocates for health equity” - said Michael E. Hermosa, Partner of Project IMG.
