Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) has conducted a first aid workshop which was hosted by Rustavi’s Mediathek.

The workshop focused on important aspects of first aid which included how to assess a victim on the spot, how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and trauma management at the pre-hospital level - these were the issues that TMA representatives and students discussed with the population of Rustavi.

The participants who came to the Mediathek had the opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience along with theoretical knowledge and acquire basic first aid skills.

The audience attending the training included many graduating-year high school students from various schools in Rustavi, therefore, in addition to the first aid training, they had the opportunity to receive information about TMA's educational and exchange programs, funding, and various extracurricular activities.

The workshop was held within the framework of the Erasmus+ Institutional Development Project - “LIFESTRAND”, which aims to train first aid skills for staff, students and the general public of universities in Ukraine and Georgia and share experience in this direction. In parallel, the project also aims to train the vulnerable population living in potentially high militarized risk zones, who have suffered as a result of Russian occupation and military aggression, in first emergency medical aid skills.

The project “LIFESTRAND”, was created, planned and is being implemented directly under the coordination of TMA. The project unites 9 universities from Georgia, Ukraine, Spain and Portugal.
